Do you have maps of the course?
Fox Island County Park requires a $2 per person entry fee the morning of the race.
What races do you currently host?
What are the distances for each race?
The sprint distances will vary, but the Fox Island Series is a .5k swim, 20k bike, and 5k run. As for the Olympic Distance races, these will consist of a 1.5k swim, 40k bike, and 10k run. With the Ultra Race series a 3.8k swim, 180k ride, and 42.2k run.
Is it safe to swim on my own or practice for a race?
Bowman Lake is SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK. We encourage you to come out and swim, but also encourage swimming with a buddy. In addition, use floatation. You could buy one of these, or make your own witha a belt and a small dry bag. Great thing with this is - you can bring your valuables with you, or even a GPS. Post your plans on facebook with SAYOR ( https://www.facebook.com/pages/SAYOR/348461508621052 ) and we'll come out and join you!
What will I need to have on race day?
Here is a list that 3 Rivers Running Company recommends.
Here is a list recommended by USA Triathlon.
For Fox Island races, bring $2 per person (not car) to enter the Fox Island County Park.
What are CATEGORIES?
There are several USAT categories. They are Elite, Age Group, and Youth. Youth is anyone under the age of 17. Age Group is the general category for adults participating in USAT events where you rank nationally amongst your age group (25-29,30-34,35-39...etc). Elite is a category reserved for those who qualify for this level of competition each year. These athletes may not be students and are permitted to collect cash prizes over $5,000. At our events, to register as ELITE, you do not need an elite license. If you expect to win or at least be top 5, registering as elite may improve your experience by allowing you to leave in a wave of other 'elite' registrants before the youth and age groupers. Why $10 extra? This $10 gets put into a pot and is matched by our organization. If an elite wins the race, they get the pot! If an age grouper wins, the pot goes on to the next race and hopefully gets larger. YOUTH or STUDENTS MAY NOT ENTER AS ELITE as it violates the conditions under which they compete as students. We will also accept donations to our cash purse which is capped at $4,999.00. If we regularly meet this cap we will raise the cash purse and allow only pros to compete for it.
What are the rules for wetsuits?
Each participant shall be permitted to wear a wet suit without penalty in any event sanctioned by USA Triathlon up to and including a water temperature of 78 degrees Fahrenheit. The wetsuit policy for athletes shall be determined by the USAT Athletes Advisory Council. The AAC has set the wetsuit maximum temperature for elites at 68 degrees for swim distances less than 3,000 meters and 71.6 degrees for distances of 3,000 meters or greater. Effective January 1, 2013, any swimmer wearing a wetsuit with a thickness measured in any part greater than 5 millimeters shall be disqualified.
Are there any ways to get discounts on a race?
Follow us on Twitter or Facebook (see Races & Results tab) for the latest updates on ways to get early bird discounts or giveaways! Also, be sure to have USAT membership through USA Triathlon to avoid paying one-day race fees.
How do I get a race day T-shirt?
In order to get a race day T-shirt, be sure to register AT LEAST TWO WEEKS before the event. This ensures that you will receive a T-shirt.
How do I get a race day award?
If you win an award at a race (1st place overall Male or Female, or 1st place age group), be sure to stick around for the awards ceremony immediately following the competition. The only way you can be guaranteed your award is to stay for the awards ceremony. If you are not present to receive the award, it will be given to the next qualified winner in that age group or the next overall winner.
